  • Grandmaster Nikolozi Kacharava from Georgia and Women's International Master Mariam Mkrtchyan from Armenia

    09/06/24- Two new ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳freshmen on SLU's chess team, Grandmaster Nikolozi Kacharava from Georgia and Women's International Master Mariam Mkrtchyan from Armenia, will be representing their respective countries at the 2024 Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. The event will run from Tuesday, Sept. 10, to Monday, Sept. 23.

  • 09/06/24- The Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement and the Black Alumni Association at ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ are teaming up to host the Black in STEAM Celebration and Awards Ceremony. This event will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, in the Wool Ballrooms.

  • 09/05/24- The Magis Brownbag Series, designed to connect the Jesuit Mission to SLU's current reality, kicks off at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in DuBourg Hall, room 102. This year, the monthly series will highlight ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳students.

  • 09/05/24- The Center for Research on Global Catholicism (CRGC) at ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳, in partnership with the University of Notre Dame Australia, University of Münster, and Washington University in St. Louis, will host a conference on Sept. 20-21, 2024, in St. Louis. The conference title is "The Catholic Enlightenment in Europe, the Americas and Australia (1700-1840): Balancing Loyalties between State, Nationality, Citizenship, and the Global Church."

  • 09/05/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳is once again hosting a series of events to help students explore academic and career options along with advice on how to approach big decisions.

  • 09/03/24- The Shared Mission program offers an in-depth, community-based opportunity for faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees of ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳. This foundational program opens the door for deeper participation in the wide variety of mission programs offered by SLU's Division for Mission and Identity.

  • 09/03/24- The 1818 Community Engagement Grant Program celebrates the over 200-year history of ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳giving back to the St. Louis community. Eighteen grants of $1,800 each are given to selected applicants to make a positive impact in the community in partnership with a local nonprofit organization.

  • 09/03/24- The Division for Mission and Identity invites faculty and staff to participate in an overnight retreat starting Saturday, Oct. 12, at SLU's Lay Center for Education and the Arts located near Louisiana, MO. There is no cost to attend, and immediate family members, children included, are welcome.

  • 08/29/24- Over the summer, ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Libraries made improvements to the discoverability and access of resources in response to feedback from the ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳community.

  • 08/27/24- The annual Billiken Spirit Competition took place Thursday, Aug. 22, at the women's soccer game against Brigham University. Check out photos from the competition.

  • Matthew Campbell, director of business operations from the Doisy College of Health Sciences, was named the 2024 Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding SAC Member.

    08/27/24- Every year, a member of the Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) receives the Joyce Huelsmann Outstanding SAC Member Award. Matthew Campbell, director, business operations, from the Doisy College of Health Sciences, was named this year's recipient.

  • 08/27/24- The Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program provides philanthropic support to scholars and writers for high-caliber research in the humanities and social sciences. An internal competition will be held to choose nominees. Interested applicants should submit an application by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.

    08/23/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ marked the beginning of the new academic year with its traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit. This year's liturgy took place on Thursday, Aug. 22, at Saint Francis Xavier College Church.

  • 08/23/24- The Office of the Vice President for Research invites all faculty to nominate works by ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳faculty at the junior and senior faculty levels. The Scholarly Works Awards reception, where the works will be recognized, is anticipated to take place in April 2025.

  • 08/22/24- All are welcome to join Campus Ministry for the kickoff of the Pilgrim Liturgy series on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The series will begin with an outdoor Mass at 12:30 p.m. on the Quad outside of DuBourg Hall.

    08/22/24- Campus Recreation and Wellness has announced the launch of a new pilot Fitness Center Orientation Program at the Simon Recreation Center. This program is designed to empower Billikens with the knowledge and skills to navigate and use the facility's fitness areas confidently.

  • 08/15/24- The entire ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ community is invited to join in a campus-wide commemoration of a pivotal moment in SLU's shared history. The Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement is seeking suggestions for events such as teach-ins, discussions, or other initiatives that reflect the themes of justice, equity, and inclusion that OccupyÁùºÏζÂÛ̳embodied. The deadline to submit an event is Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.

  • 08/13/24- The Pastoral Care Department of SSM Health ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ Hospital is seeking nominations for the 2024 Caring Physicians Awards. Nominations can be submitted through Friday, Sept. 20.

  • 08/13/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ will mark the beginning of the new academic year with its traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit. This year's liturgy will take place on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at Saint Francis Xavier College Church. Classes are canceled from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

    08/13/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ is set to come alive this week with the newest Billikens starting their college journey and arriving on campus for Fall Welcome. Fall Welcome kicks off Friday, Aug. 16, with new student move-in.

  • 08/13/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ will welcome its new and returning Billikens home to campus beginning Friday, Aug. 16. During this time, traffic will be heavy in the area around campus, and campus parking options will be impacted. Staff, faculty, and students should prepare for the impact and make a plan for getting to, from, and around campus, and to be prepared to park in a new, temporary location during Move-In and Fall Welcome.

  • 08/09/24- As part of SLU's ongoing garage repairs, work will be taking place in the Hickory West garage, beginning with a closure of the affected area on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

  • 08/09/24- The Office of Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships currently seeks faculty and staff interested in reading and evaluating ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳student applications for national scholarships and awards like Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, Truman, and Goldwater. Faculty and staff from all disciplines interested in award areas are welcome.

  • 08/09/24- The Division of Mission and Identity has decided on the Friday Mass and Speaker series lineup for the fall semester. The Friday talks focus on the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus and the many ways that ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ lives the UAP.

  • 07/30/24- Effective Thursday, Aug. 1, ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ will be transitioning to a new email delivery method utilizing DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) for all purchase order notifications coming from Unimarket/Billiken Buy. This upgrade will affect both suppliers and internal users.

  • 07/19/24- QR code scams, commonly referred to as "Quishing," exploit the convenience of QR codes to deceive individuals into compromising their personal information or devices. These scams often promise enticing rewards or discounts but lead unsuspecting users to malicious websites, malware downloads, or phishing attempts. Understanding how to identify and protect yourself from QR code scams is crucial in today's digital landscape.

  • 07/18/24- The Center for Research on Global Catholicism (CRGC) at ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ has announced the second annual cycle of the 2024 St. Louis Catholic Archives Visiting Research Grant. The deadline to apply is Thursday, Aug. 15.

  • 07/18/24- The Food and Justice Action Collaborative (FJAC) at ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ has announced that four teams of faculty and student researchers have received funding through the inaugural round of the FJAC Innovation mini-grant program.

  • 07/16/24- The ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ Women's Commission has extended an invitation to all faculty, staff, and students to join. There are two open executive board positions: Co-Chair of the Women's Commission and treasurer. Additionally, there are many positions available on subcommittees.

    07/16/24- Cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals as they take on the San Diego Padres, and connect with fellow members of the ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ community this summer during 2024's Billiken Night at the Ballpark. ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳faculty, staff members, students, alumni and Billiken families will fill Busch Stadium's stands on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

  • 07/12/24- The 2023-2024 cycle for the 1818 Community Engagement Grant program concluded on May 31. A comprehensive report has been prepared, highlighting the impact of the 18 selected projects.

  • 07/11/24- SLU's Office of the Vice President for Research hosts Research Resources Week to kick off each semester. The week includes workshops, informational sessions, and discussions highlighting SLU's diverse resources and aims to aid research practices, collaborations, and outcomes among faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students.

  • 07/09/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Research is looking for volunteers for a research study. They are seeking healthy individuals without diabetes, age 18-65 years of age.

  • 07/05/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳, in collaboration with SSM Health, is a proud partner of the All of Us Research Program, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The mission of the program is simple: to speed up health research.

  • 07/02/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳'s Department of Fine and Performing Arts has a new name -- the Visual and Performing Arts Department of ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳. The new name went into effect on July 1.

  • 06/28/24- The Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship is offering Safe Zone Phase 1 Training every Thursday until Aug. 8. Training sessions will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Center for Global Citizenship Seminar Room 124A.

  • 06/13/24- Volunteers are needed to help ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ create a memorable Homecoming and Family Weekend. The 2024 Homecoming and Family Weekend is scheduled for Sept. 27-29.

  • 06/07/24- University Writing Services is offering a free writing retreat open to all graduate students during the summer. It will take place on Tuesday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 26. Both sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can drop in anytime.

  • 06/06/24- As part of Facilities Services' continued improvements to the campus, contractors will be making repairs to several concrete areas across the campus this summer. Work is tentatively planned to begin near the Olive Compton Garage and athletic fields on Monday, June 10. After this area, crews will then begin working on the West Pine Wall.

  • 05/31/24- Symplectic Elements is a faculty profile software platform designed to showcase academic and research accomplishments for internal and external audiences while providing faculty complete control over what appears on their profile. Multiple training sessions are scheduled throughout the summer.

    05/28/24- SLU's League of Legends team secured a series of wins to secure a top-2 finish on the season and earned the right to compete for a national title. The Billikens will face off for the top spot on Saturday, June 8, against Maryville University.

  • 05/23/24- Information Technology Services will be performing mandatory Banner ODS maintenance beginning Thursday, May 30, at 12:30 a.m. to Friday, May 31, at 12:30 a.m. 

  • 05/22/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳'s Human Resources division is hosting its third annual HR Power Lunch on Friday, June 14. Shawntelle Fisher, founder and CEO of The Soulfisher Ministries, will deliver remarks.

  • 05/21/24- The Event Services department, in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, is implementing a new reservation process to equitably distribute space between various departments that would like to hold events during the Fall Welcome time period. The deadline to fill out the form is Friday, May 31.

    05/21/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Varsity League of Legends teams have returned to the top 4 out of 367 schools of the College League of Legends national championship hosted by Riot Games and University Esports. The Billikens will be in action this weekend and attempt to advance in the tournament.

  • 05/14/24- Starting Wednesday, May 15, ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Shuttle and ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Ride hours will shift into their summer schedule. The new hours will be in place all summer.

  • 05/14/24- The Edward L. and Rhelda Marbry Morgan, Ph.D. Endowed Book Fund Award provides a book scholarship to graduate students at ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳for one academic year. Applications will close Saturday, June 15, 2024.

  • 05/14/24- The ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ Doisy College of Health Sciences hosted its second annual DCHS Scholarship Week from April 23-25, 2024. The event showcased 35 poster presentations and 15 podium presentations, many of which featured faculty/student collaboration.

    05/14/24- Interprofessional Education (IPE) plays a crucial role in shaping students into collaborative, person-centered health professionals. In March 2023, ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳'s Provost, Michael Lewis, Ph.D., charged a task force to restructure IPE within the university. This task force developed a transition plan involving two phases: shifting the existing program from the School of Medicine to Academic Affairs and creating a structure with broad stakeholder involvement in Interprofessional Collaboration. The reimagined IPE Program is set to launch on July 1, 2024.

  • 05/14/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ Career Services is now collecting Scholarly Undergraduate Research Grants and Experiences (SURGE) project submissions for the upcoming Academic Year 2024-2025. SURGE provides a path to connect research assistants (student workers) with faculty who are conducting research, creative endeavors, and other scholarly projects at SLU.

    05/10/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ will celebrate the accomplishments of graduates with the spring 2024 commencement ceremony, preceded by in-person precommencements for each individual college and school. Commencement events will kick off Wednesday, May 15, with the first round of precommencement ceremonies. The spring 2024 commencement ceremony begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, in Chaifetz Arena.

    05/07/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳'s Alpha Sigma Nu Chapter was one of the four Chapters awarded the honor of Chapter of the Year for the 2023-2024 academic year. Alpha Sigma Nu is the National Jesuit Honors Society and is the only honors society that can bear the name Jesuit.

    05/03/24- The 17th annual Senior Legacy Symposium took place on Tuesday, April 30, in the Busch Student Center. This event featured the work of more than 200 students and over 50 academic departments and programs.

Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society. Its mission is to foster and recognize excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.

  • 05/02/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ has been named a recipient of the 2023 Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention. Presented by Vector Solutions, the CPN Seal of Prevention is awarded to institutions of higher education that have demonstrated leadership in digital prevention programming focused on student safety, well-being, and inclusion.

  • 04/30/24- The Cross-Cultural Center for Global Citizenship in the Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement is partnering with SLU's Rainbow Alliance to host this year's Lavender Graduation. Now in its third year, the event begins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, in the Center for Global Citizenship.

  • 04/30/24- Current ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳students can now apply for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. The MLK Scholarship is a competitive award granted to undergraduate students committed to social justice, academic success, service, leadership, and cultural awareness experiences.

    04/26/24- The African Graduate Professional Network, a growing community of African graduate students under the Graduate Students Association (GSA), invited African leaders in St. Louis to ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ on Saturday, April 20, to speak to the students about business and commerce opportunities in Africa and other opportunities to network in the St Louis community.

  • 04/26/24- Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement (DICE), which exists to lead inclusivity, belonging and cultural enrichment at SLU, has announced the winners of the inaugural DICE Cultural and Belonging Grants. The grants underscore the university's commitment to fostering a sense of belonging among underrepresented and minoritized communities on campus.

  • 04/25/24- Founded in 2015 by ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳School of Medicine students, MEDLaunch is a student biotechnology incubator based at the Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship that brings together students across various disciplines on the undergraduate and graduate campuses to develop medical devices and solutions to problems affecting healthcare today. This year MEDLaunch and GEOLauch Demo Day will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at COLLAB at Cortex.

    04/25/24- Grandmaster Batsuren Dambasuren, a member of the ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Chess A Team, won the Spring Chess Classic B-group with 7 points out of 9 possible. He finished 1.5 points ahead nearest competitor.

    04/25/24- Thirteen Criminology and Criminal Justice students from ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳had the unique opportunity to visit the historic Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City on Saturday, April 20. Known as the oldest continuously operating prison west of the Mississippi, this facility was decommissioned in 2004 but remains full of stories and lessons.

    04/23/24- The Theatre and Dance Program of ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳Fine and Performing Arts is offering free tickets for all ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳students for this weekend's dance concert, Dreamscape. Performances take place at The Grandel from April 26 to 28. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

    04/23/24- ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳ hosted DASA (Disabled Athlete Sports Association) Ability Awareness Demonstration on Monday, Apri 22. The event allows people to see and try adaptive sports and hopefully learn about opportunities for people with physical disabilities to participate in adaptive sports, recreational programs, and fitness activities designed to improve self-esteem, strength, independence, and well-being. At the event, Sarah Adam, an occupational therapy professor and rugby Paralympian hopeful, was celebrated by DASA and members of the ÁùºÏζÂÛ̳community as she got ready for the Paralympics.

  • 04/22/24- All students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to attend the annual 1818 Community Engagement Grant Showcase on Thursday, May 2, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Center for Global Citizenship.

  • 04/22/24- The 17th annual Senior Legacy Symposium will occur on Tuesday, April 30, in the Busch Student Center from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This event regularly features the work of more than 200 students and over 50 academic departments and programs.

    04/22/24- The Student Involvement Center hosted the 33rd Annual Leadership and Service Awards in the Wool Ballrooms on Tuesday, April 16. This ceremony honors outstanding achievements and contributions in the areas of leadership and service for students, faculty, and staff.
